    • The prevalent factors had transformed Kolhapur, Maharashtra into watershed for engineering enterprises by providing them with manpower and sources for necessary spare parts.

    • • Two independent groups of young entrepreneurs, The Doshis and the Vasas came together to form a partnership firm under the banner of Rocket Engineering.
    • • Our first production of Diesel Engines rolled out and it consisted of 5HP, 10HP & 14 HP Conventional Horizontal Diesel Powered Engines, each weighing 550, 1000 and 1200 kg respectively.

    • • Escalating raw material and other inputs including transportation costs and longer transit time caused us to open our second and larger facility at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
    • • Partnership firm was dissolved to form a Pvt. Ltd. Company and the key managing personnel were elevated as members of Board of Directors.

    • • Overall demand for Diesel Engines dropped.
    • • Fissure developed between the two equal equity holders; the Doshis and the Vasas, ultimately leading to separation.
    • • Doshis retained Brand Rocket, production of horizontal engines and the Ahmedabad facility.
    • • Vasas retained Brand Comet, production of vertical engines and the Kolhapur facility.

    • • We introduced our much applauded Portable Series for the first time in India.
    • • We started exports via Govt. Recognized Export Houses such as Elve Corporation, Metro Exporters Pvt. Ltd., Greaves Cotton etc.
    • • Our sales volumes turned upside down with exports forming 70% and domestic sales forming 30% of our total sales volume.

    • • Vasas secured a huge order from Government Of Bihar to supply 3100 engines within 4 months’ period. It seemed herculean task as their normal monthly production was hovering around 500 engines.
    • • SBI Local Branch Manager sanctioned a life giving loan of 25lakhs.
    • • The abnormal delay in the receipt of payment from Government of Bihar delayed the payments to vendors. The delay shot up from 30 days to 180 to 200 days.
    • • Comet gratefully salutes our valiant vendors who staunchly stood by us and continued their supplies to us, uninterruptedly. It reflects the mutual trust we and our vendors enjoyed.

    • • To improve both the quality and productivity we commissioned SPMs-Special Purpose Machines for producing critical components; Crank Case, Connecting Rod, Cylinder Head, Crank Shaft, Cam Shaft.
    • • Production output increased with deployment of 50% lesser manpower.
